When it was established in 1988, Le Support - Fondation de la déficience intellectuelle was ahead of its time on issues like recycling and environmental protection. It decided not to solicit donations of money but rather to encourage people to donate used clothing and household items to it.
The Foundation has developed expertise in recovering used goods, mainly second-hand clothing and household items. This growing business of selling used articles covers all of the organization’s financial needs. Le Support does not receive any financial aid and is self-sufficient.

You can also use our Internet site to order yourself your home pickup by filling in this form. However, most of the goods we collect come from our blue collection boxes that you’ll find in more than 70 municipalities. We have a network of 420 donation boxes in places like Couche-Tard convenience stores, supermarkets like Provigo, Métro, IGA, and several other commercial partners. Each year we collect some 6,000 tonnes of goods, which get reused rather than being dumped in our municipal landfills.
All these goods are resold. From the resale of these items, we get a stable income that enables us to cover all the expenses incurred by our collection activities, so that we can pursue our mission with organizations working in the area of intellectual disability.
